360 Noise Reduction is a seamless plugin filter that will apply a noise reduction algorithm to equirectangular (2:1) footage without affecting the seams. Reduces noise using a threshold value to define what is considered noise. Small changes in luminance below that value are considered noise and get a noise reduction treatment, which is a local blur. Changes above the threshold value are considered edges, so they are sharpened.
It can be applied directly to your clips and supports 2:1 Equirectangular Projection, 2:1 stereoscopic over/under “squeezed” equirectangular projection, or 1:1 stereoscopic over/under equirectangular projection.
The plugin works with Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro, Apple Motion and Adobe After Effects and is included as a component of 360VR Toolbox.
View – Allows the user to toggle between the effected “Sharpened” view or the original image with the effect bypassed.
Source – Default: Mono. Tells the plugin if the source footage is mono 2D or stereoscopic 3D in over/under format.
Noise Level – Default: 0.02. Small changes in luminance below this value are considered noise and get a noise reduction treatment, which is a local blur. Changes above the threshold value are considered edges, so they are sharpened.
Sharpness – Default: 0.4. Increase or decrease the intensity of the sharpening effect between 0 and 1. Only affects areas above the Noise Level threshold.
